Homeschool Field Day in Cullman

We went to Cullman, AL this week to participate in their homechool field day. The kids had so much fun! The excitement of the day inspired me to look into hosting a field day a little closer to home. I'll post details as soon as I get it all scheduled! :)

Provo Mountains

One of the my most content childhood memories is of me sitting in my Grandma's backyard staring up at the mountains while the smell of mint herbs and fresh cut grass filled the air. Often time, I find myself yearning for those mountains. They represented such strength and consistency for me. Even today, I can identify the curves and peaks of the mountain who's graceful shadow I called home. These mountains line the neighborhood my brother has chosen to live in. They aren't MY mountain ;) but as I looked at them, the feelings of peace and strength and consistency came flooding back to me.

City Creek Center in Salt Lake City

While we were in Salt Lake City, we visited the new City Creek Center. It is a gorgeous indoor/outdoor mall right next to temple square. It is super clean with beautiful landscaping and lots of restaurants and retail stores. We stopped in the Disney store and Maddi went CRAZY. At the entrance, there is a huge, pink princess castle lined with princess dresses and shoes. Inside of the castle, clips of princess movies were glowing through the mirrors that lined its walls. The entire left half of the store was covered in princess dolls, dresses, shoes, towels, t-shirts, and toys. Maddi was completely overwhelmed and just kept circling the store with sparkling eyes and her mouth open in astonishment. So I guess the fancy Disney store + the beautiful scenery makes this our new favorite shopping spot.

Ben + Genny + babies

My brother Ben and his wifey are having little boy twins!  I am so excited for them and can't wait to meet their little angels.  Genny is 32 weeks (I think) and the most gorgeous little mama I've ever seen.  I feel so blessed to watch their family grow, and I plan on being the best long-distance aunt ever. This new calling of parenthood will define their purpose and broaden their ability to love.  I remember the first time I held Andrew.  His presence changed me; my love for him healed me, and I am so glad they get to experience that (times two!)

Michael + Rachel

My little brother married his sweetheart this weekend.  I felt so blessed to be there, to meet Rachel's family, and to capture a few of their happiest moments together.  Rachel and Michael are absolutely perfect for each other.  I watch her smile at Mikey's quirky humor, and I saw safety and comfort in my brothers eyes as he held his bride.  I have prayed for so long that God would bless my brother, my closest friend with a companion to share his life with, and my heart was full of gratitude and joy as I watched them commit themselves to one another.
