River Rocks & Wet Dogs

This week we went to Ditto Landing for a few hours of family fun. The weather was beautiful, and we just strolled along the riverbank listening to the water and watching the boats make waves. Our puppy loves the water (yes he's only a puppy...he's just monstrously large), so we let him jump in and swim around for a while. After we were done with our walk, we went to the bait shop and got some ice cream sandwiches. From there we could see the boat docks, and Drew enjoyed watching the big machines carry the boats out of the warehouse and set them into the water. What a fun, relaxing day!

An Average Day

Well, lately my mornings have started about 3AM when Madison begins her break-dancing routine in my belly....and she doesn't seem to stop til about 10pm...kinda sweet to feel her ALL day, but kind of annoying and painful at the same time. After that, I do ironing & laundry & then wake Drew up for school. I help him get ready & make breakfast & lunch for him & then Sean takes him to school while I hop in the shower & get ready for work. After work, I pick Drew up from school, we go to job #2 together, swing by and see Sean while we're in town, and then hit the grocery store on the way home. Next comes homework, outside play time, then dinner, bath, story, & bedtime. After Drew is asleep, I usually do a load of dishes or some other random chore & then hop into bed (completely exhausted by this point) and work online until Sean gets home. Well, needless to say we have quite the routine that we follow every day, but this week Sean broke the mold when he came home with a few little surprises....roses & Krispy Kreme...what more can a girl ask for?

I feel like as hard as I work, things never get done...the house is always messy, the laundry is never done, I'm always tired and cranky...you know how it goes, but this week, amongst the chaos, I was able to stop & realize how lucky I am to have a sweet hubby that loves me and an amazing son that truly is a gift from God. Our life may not be perfect, but we love each other and get to enjoy the rest of eternity together....and that is all of the perfection I need.

Outside of out normalness, we attempted to make brownies (we ran out of cocoa & tried to substitute Nesquick instead...lol...they were so gross!), we rented a few movies (Nim's Island was precious, but Speed Racer was weird & confusing), and I read a few books (Amy Tan is an AMAZING author, and I also read Jenny McCarthy's pregnancy book which was hilarious!) We also played dress up with some old Halloween costumes, had a few doctors appointments (Sean had an MRI and some blood work done 'cause he has some weird swelling under his arms but no results yet), and had another ultra sound just to make sure Madison was still doing well (they said she looks perfect). So there's our week...crazy-busy and perfect in its imperfections.

Busy Bees

We have been super-busy this week, but I thought I'd take a quick second to capture a few memories.

Sean and I have been busy working two jobs each...cute baby girl clothes cost a lot and I'm going to be pretty useless after she's born, so we decided to work like crazy while we can. Luckily, I only have to work while Drew is in school, so we have had lots of time to spend together when he gets home. We have been riding bikes...well he rode while I hit up the ice cream truck and watched from my plush lawn chair. :) We also enjoyed drawing pictures on the sidewalk with chalk, reading books together, and we even had a "fun only day" which involved Drew picking a place to eat, reading tons of silly books, and spending hours together at Chuckie Cheese. We had such a great time together. We also got to go to Drew's Open House at school. The gym was so full of people that we couldn't even get into the meeting, but we enjoyed talking to his teacher, letting him show us around his classroom, and racing each other in the gym.
So..that's our week.. a lot of work & a few fun memories. I can't wait to see what next week has in store. :)

A change of plans

Another week has come and gone and brought with it so many unexpected changes.
I have officially crossed over into the world of spandex topped pants and big bellied shirts. As if pregnant women don't feel awkward enough, we're forced to wear ridiculous looking clothing. I have just resigned to the fact that there's no way to look or feel sexy in maternity wear. So, I will just suck it up & look funky for the next 16 weeks.
I found out the day before classes started that I wouldn't be able to attend this semester. They wouldn't let me take any labs since I'm preggers, and its kind of hard to find a chem class or a bio class without a lab. I did find one, but my academic scholarship requires that I go full time; one class just wouldn't cut it, so no school for me. :( I was really bummed at first, but I've found a part time job in admin at the VBC to keep me busy while Drew is in school. I work there during the day, go pick Drew up from school, and then work from home on the Internet 'til Sean gets home. Oddly enough I've actually started to feel better despite the chaos. I guess making myself get out of bed, put on make up, and go socialize with the world makes me forget about feeling like a sick, bloated whale...and earning the extra money is always nice. :)
We went to the concert in the park on Monday. They had fireworks for Labor Day and some groovy music. We took our dog and some lawn chairs, and Drew skated around on his heelys while we enjoyed a night of music and people watching...one of our favorite past times.
Drew is finally learning how to play the piano. I have tried several times to teach him, and he just hasn't seemed very interested. He loves playing, but would rather compose his own songs rather than be confined to the notes someone else has written for him. Today, however, was a different story. He went through the first four lessons in about ten minutes and ended with big smiles & high fives instead of whines, pouting, and protests. He has also been doing really well in school; he even made a 100 on his very first spelling test! We are so proud of him!
So, this week has been quite eventful...full of accomplishments, surprises, and the occasional moment to relax & enjoy each other. Hopefully next week will be just as exciting.
